A decade later, the Roadhouse Brewery got its own decidedly upscale quarters. Among the multitude of memorable ales brewed here is John Harris' Old Samhain, which was created in 1987 using the fruit of the grapevines growing wild on the property. Old Bushwacker, a Bart Hance creation, was one of McMenamins earliest representations of the Barleywine style. And the venerable Barn Owl Bitter, named for a nocturnal winged resident of the property, remains cherished by many. Current property favorites brewed on premise include the Silvercone India Pale Lager, Dark Star Cascadian Dark Ale and Pole Ax Strong Ale, with the occasional Oatmeal Vanilla Stout mixed in for good measure. Every July brings the annual Roadhouse Brewfest, hosted by your cheerful house brewers Chris Oslin and Brady Romtvedt, and featuring special concoctions from several of our breweries in Oregon and Washington as well as libations from honored guests from other local and regional breweries. CPR is also a participant in the Organic Brew Festival.
