McMenamins operates 25 breweries – the newest, located in Bothell, Washington opened in September 2015. Since our first brew at the Hillsdale Brewery & Public House in 1985, McMenamins has produced more than 68,000 batches. In 2014, our breweries collectively crafted 3,251 batches of beer (including more than 250 new and unusual house-specific recipes), which equaled more than 46,750 kegs of beer or an astounding 5.8 million pints!
In keeping with McMenamins' company philosophy, our breweries believe that brewing "green" is brewing responsibly. Waste products are given to local farmers, where they can be used; materials used are recycled or reused whenever possible; and second-hand equipment is largely used. Have a look at our earth-friendly brewing practices.
Many beer lovers are familiar with our ales: Terminator Stout, Hammerhead, Ruby, Edgefield Wheat, Black Rabbit Porter, Sunflower IPA and others. Due to the nature of handcrafting, it's safe to say that no two McMenamins batches are identical. Science and technology provide the backbone for our craft, but it is the unique qualities of each brew house, and the individual brewer's ale-crafting style, that ensure you will enjoy liquid refreshments that are truly special and made with every care for the environment. Roasting beans from small-farm growers to produce the best cup of coffee
McMenamins approaches specialty coffee roasting with the same passion for attention to detail that we apply to our ales, wines and spirits. Our roast masters use only beans from the highest-quality coffea arabicaspecies – plants that produce coffees of elegant, complex flavors. This is why McMenamins coffee beans come from small-farm growers producing shade-grown plants of the highest caliber; it’s the first step toward insuring the finest possible cup o‘ joe.
At McMenamins Coffee Roasters, our varietal and blended coffees are roasted in a state-of-the-art German-made Probat drum roaster, said to be the finest brand in the industry. Drum roasting allows the deep aroma and flavor of the smoke to permeate each bean.
Although we roast upwards of 40,000 pounds of beans a year, the roasting is done in small batches, one at a time. McMenamins coffees are roasted to order for our pubs, restaurants and hotels on a weekly basis to ensure freshness.

Blackest Heart is an Imperial Stout aged for over a year in Hogshead Whiskey barrels with sweet cherries, cocoa, and cold brew coffee. It's dark, indulgent, and hard to resist.

This Wild Ale was made with mango, peach and apricot, spontaneously fermented in American Oak and aged on fruit for three months. This is the first beer out of Edgefield’s Coolship Program, emulating a centuries-old method from brewers of Belgian Lambics. After brewing, the beer is cooled in open-air ‘coolships’ allowing contact with native, wild yeast. This beer is tart, fruity and one-of-a-kind.

Arata Kriek is deep red, pleasantly sour and packed with cherry flavor from aging on hundreds of pounds of Fuji Cherries. This rare barrel-aged offering was brewed and fermented with wild yeast and mixed cultures in the summer of 2015 and aged in Hogshead Whiskey barrels for two-and-a-half years, one spent entirely on fruit. Fewer than 200 bottles were produced, so add it to your cellar today!

Tart and funky, this three-headed beast is a blend of a Golden Ale, a Nectarine Brett Pale and Ginger Hibiscus Gose. All three beers were aged together for two years in the Cerberus barrel, a former Hogshead Whiskey Barrel, and inoculated with a Belgian Wild Ale strain, Brettanomyces Bruxellensis, to create a pleasant and earthy tang that pervades this balanced beer.

Lord of Misrule was first brewed at McMenamins Edgefield in 2014. Every year since, the brewery has changed the recipe, making it one of our most creative and sought after barrel-aged beers.

After aging in Hogshead Whiskey barrels, this beer is a true example of a classic, barrel-aged English Barleywine. Already a formidable ale in its own right, it has matured into a flavorful, complex behemoth. It offers flavors of toffee, caramel, and a warming alcohol character that's been rounded and accentuated by notes of raisin, vanilla, and oak from its aging.

A classic Northwest Pale Ale and McMenamins Standard. This rich chestnut colored gem is a model of harmony between hops and malted barley. Hammerhead's signature Cascade Hop nose and intense hopped flavor blend nicely with the caramel tones from the Crystal Malt. This beer has a vocal following; to run out is an unforgivable sin.

One of our most popular standards, we still make Ruby with the same aims we had when brewing the first batch back in March of 1986: To create an ale that's light, crisp and refreshingly fruity. Great Western Premium 2-Row and 42 pounds of Oregon-grown and processed raspberry puree is used to craft every colorful batch. Simple but delicious.

Black as the darkest night and as rich as the most decadent dessert, Terminator is for the true Stout lover. This is a full-bodied and flavor packed ale that draws it's robust complexity from kiln-baked specialty grains. Look for a wide array of toasted, chocolate, nutty and coffee-like flavors in every pint. The devoted swear by it, and it remains one of our top selling beers, year after year.

A few McMenamins Brewers found themselves working away to a traditional Irish tune, dreaming of black and tans. Inspired by the sounds of fiddle and fife, they crafted Foggy Dew - a crisp, straw-colored lager that's balanced, but low in hop bitterness. Whether this beer finds you for St. Patrick's Day or any day, we hope the wind is always at your back and may the sun shine warm upon your face.

This hazy, orange ale is a hoppy concoction brewed and dry-hopped with Amarillo, Citra, Mosaic, and Chinook Hops and over 650 pounds of mango puree from Oregon Fruit Products. A powerful medley of bold tropical fruit scents and flavors elevate this Double IPA to a higher plane.

Tropic Heat is a kettle soured ale brewed with pink guava puree, coconut and habanero peppers. The heat contribution from the peppers is very minimal and creates a pleasant background quality that lingers. This slight spiciness accentuates the fruity, full guava taste that is this beer's foundation. Coconut was also added to pleasantly blend all of the fine flavors together.

McMenamins Sunflower IPA was first introduced in the summer of 1995 at our West Linn Brewery. Inspired by the bountiful sunflowers grown in the pub's beer garden, this IPA has a deep golden color and distinct citrus flavors that satisfy both the diehard IPA drinker and those who prefer a lighter palate. Sunflower IPA is truly a beer for the masses.

Egyptian Cotton was named after the soft, cozy companion that a blanket can provide. This beer is just that soft, like a basket full of clouds. Aromas of citrus and candied fruit float over a light hazy body comprised of silky rolled oats, full of hop-forward flavor but lacking an overly assertive bitterness. Enjoy the smooth mouthfeel of this New England-Style IPA!

Originally created at the Thompson Brewery on October 15th in 1991, Black Widow’s web now envelops the entire company every year. McMenamins has always had an environmentally conscious climate. Since the company's inception in 1983, recycling had been handled on a pub-by-pub basis. In 1991, a full-time environmental coordinator was hired to oversee reducing, reusing and recycling the company's waste, including materials such as plastics, paper, cork, metals, glass, oil, cardboard and so on.
